Tuesday 22nd August LGBTQIA+ Archive Meeting 6:30 pm at York Explore
Victoria Hoyle is a PhD student and an archivist at Explore York Libraries and Archives and is interested in setting up an LGBT+ Archive for York and North Yorkshire. She is LGBT herself and is aware of how much of our community’s local history has been hidden or lost. An LGBT+ archive for the city and the area would be an opportunity to share documents, photographs and oral histories and to preserve them for the future. There is a possibility of a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to support the project. She would like to get as many people involved as possible. There is an informal meeting on Tuesday 22nd August from 6.30pm at York Explore to discuss possibilities and everyone is welcome to attend. If you would like more information you can contact Victoria at victoria.hoyle@york.ac.uk. If you are unable to come to the meeting but would like to be involved, or know someone who would be interested who may not get this email, just let her know.
